Some productions involve contributions from outside your organisation, such as:
- specialised service providers (e.g. sound studio, FX, motion capture),
- co-producing studios,
- or live-action shooting services.
In Carbulator, these external contributions must not be modelled as studios (you only create studios that belong to your organisation).
However, they must be integrated at the production level via work groups of type Service.
How to declare an external contribution?
>>Side panel > Production > [ Production Name] > View details > Add a work group
Add a work group
- Select the type: Service
- Enter the following fields:
- Service provider name (e.g. Studio ABCD – Sound design)
- Group activity (e.g. Post-production – Sound design)
- Active period (estimated or actual dates)
External data
- Total carbon impact (kgCO₂e): Enter the figure provided by the service provider
- Calculation tool used (if applicable)
IMPORTANT – If no data is provided by the service provider:
If the service provider is unable to supply a carbon figure, you must still create a Service work group, enter all known fields, and leave the contribution set to 0 kgCO₂e. When exporting the official carbon footprint report, you may then specify in the comments field that it was not possible to obtain this data.
