6.1.1 Carbon emissions results

After selecting the desired dataset, then [> Results]

Totals

  • Total of CO2 emissions
  • Emissions per ETP

Graphics

  • Emissions by item → pie chart useful for identifying the main emission sources.
  • Emissions by group (Production’s results) → breakdown by the work groups that contributed to the production.

Detailed tables

  • Carbon footprint is presented according to the different regulatory frameworks
    • regulatory BEGES, GHG Protocol, and Bilan Carbone®.
    • Each item is broken down to ensure clear, transparent reporting in line with these frameworks

IMPORTANT : All results include a total uncertainty percentage, which reflects the quality and accuracy of the data entered. This value is imposed by the carbon methodology and does not call into question the validity of the carbon footprint.

6.1.2 Export a carbon footprint report
Clic the [Export] button on the upper-right corner of the results page, then select the file format you want to use for the export.

6.1.3 Focus on CNC-required reports (For french productions)

Since 1 March 2025, any application for public funding submitted to the CNC requires both a forecast and an actual carbon footprint for natively digital productions (series, standalone works, short films, and feature films).

Forecast carbon footprint – required at:

  • Cinema: at the time of the Investment Approval application
  • Audiovisual: at the time of the Preliminary Authorisation

Actual (final) carbon footprint – required at:

  • Cinema: at the time of the Production Approval
  • Audiovisual: at the time of the Final Authorisation

These carbon reports are mandatory to be eligible for production funding. They must be produced using an approved tool, and Carbulator is currently the only tool recognised by the CNC for animation productions.

The CNC export format is the only format accepted in CNC funding applications. It corresponds to a standardised Excel file generated from Carbulator.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

  • This file does not display all emission items, which may result in an apparent discrepancy with the full carbon footprint visible in Carbulator. This is normal and does not indicate an error. The CNC standard focuses exclusively on “major emissions.”
  • Generating a CNC export locks the associated dataset: once this format has been generated, the production data can no longer be modified.
  • Submission to the CNC is not performed from within Carbulator. The user must manually upload the file via the CNC’s official platforms.
