Before taking any action in Carbulator, we invite you to (re)watch the replay of the webinar organised by the CNC. This webinar provides an overview of the CNC’s expectations regarding the new eco-conditionality requirements for digital animation productions, followed by a general presentation of Carbulator that will help you understand the main principles of how it works.
Then, for your first use, follow this guided path. Once this step is completed, you will be able to explore each section to adjust the collected data or test different scenarios.
- Create a Carbulator account and an Organisation
You therefore define your Organisation. Note that you may have several organisations within Carbulator. Each organisation has its own studios and productions, in a strictly isolated manner. - Add one or more studios and declare their activity data
- Go to the Studios section to add one or more studios under the financial or operational control of your organisation. This is done using the + Add a studio button
- Create a new dataset corresponding to the measured year using the + New dataset button.
- Click View dataset. As this is new, no results are displayed yet. Then click Edit.
- Enter your studio’s activity data for the measured year.
- Enter your equipment inventory
Go to the Technical infrastructure section. In the first tab, declare your equipment using the + Add an inventory button. Then, in the second tab, assemble standard configurations that will be used later, using the + Create a configuration button. - Access the Studio’s carbon footprint report
- After completing the entry of the studio’s activity data, return to its main page. The carbon footprint is now displayed, with a breakdown of emission categories.
- By clicking the Export button, you can choose the type of report to export as well as its format.
- Add a Production and declare its activity data
- In the Production section, declare a new production using the + Add a production button.
- Create a new dataset: click View details, then + New dataset — give it a name.
- Click View dataset. As this is new, no results are displayed yet. Then click Edit.
- Enter your production’s activity data
- Access the production’s carbon footprint report
- After completing the entry of activity data for a production, return to its main page. The carbon footprint is now displayed, with a breakdown of emission categories.
- By clicking the Export button, you can choose the type of report to export as well as its format.
- WARNING for french productions! Exporting in CNC format (and only this format) will finalise the report, making it no longer editable. This procedure and this format are the only ones accepted by the CNC for the submission of support application files.
- Note: the official CNC export action does not constitute submission of the report to the CNC. It is the user’s responsibility to submit this document via the official platforms dedicated to the submission of support application files to the CNC.
